The International Association for the Study of Sexuality, Culture and Society (IASSCS) opens the Call for Applications for its XI Biennual Conference, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 13-15 July, 2017. IASSCS is committed to making its Conferences accessible to all who are working in sexuality-related fields or who are studying human sexuality.
We are receiving applications for the IASSCS Conference Scholarships from January 18th only until February 10th 2017.
Who can apply?

Priority will be given to early career researchers, advocates and students working, studying or volunteering in the sexuality research field in the Global South with fewer financial resources.

Only the submitting author will be considered as eligible for funding for travel support. If there are several authors / co-authors, it is up to them to decide who submits the abstract and then applies for a scholarship. The same applies for complete session proposals and exhibits.

Requests for travel support to serve as discussant or session chair (without paper) will not be considered for funding.

The application form must be completed in English and in full. Incomplete applications or in other languages cannot be considered for a scholarship.

Participants who received grants for the past conference are not eligible. If you have received grants to participate at the Dublin X Conference (2015), please do not apply.
General Selection Criteria

Only those participants whose abstracts have been selected for the conference are eligible. However, acceptance of the proposal does not imply funding for the participant. Thus, participants are strongly urged to seek other sources of funds when applying through IASSCS.

Overall quality of the presentation and its contribution to the enrichment of the Conference, as determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Solid and original work by the applicant, as well as publications, fieldwork, or long-standing involvement on topics relevant to sexual rights movements.

Applications from a variety of professional fields and institutional backgrounds are welcomed.

Decisions will be made by the IASSCS Scholarship Committee and acceptance letters will be e-mailed on April 2017.
What do we offer?
IASSCS has very limited funding. Therefore, we will only grant support to one or more of the following:

IASSCS Conference Registration Fee.

Accommodation in a shared double room for up to 4 nights during the IASSCS Conference in the university dorms (12-16 July).

Subsistence allowance for up to 5 days.

Airfare (least-expensive, most-direct economy flight).
IASSCS Scholarship will not cover the cost of the hotel incidental expenses, visa applications and other optional extra expenses (for example travel insurance).
As only a limited number of scholarships are available and the demand is so high, it is strongly recommended you also seek funding from other sources.

Your Curriculum Vitae (only in PDF or Word file), no more than 2 pages /60 KB.

A 2000-character Motivation Statement explaining why you want to attend XI IASSCS International Conference and how your participation in the Conference would benefit you, your organization and/or community.

A 1000-character Financial Statement describing the conditions supporting your financial request. Give information on your financial status (student, employment status and benefits), home institution/organization budget incentives and/or restraints, and availability of other sources of support.

After submitting your scholarship application, a confirmation number will automatically appear on the screen.
