The Equal Rights Trust and the Human Rights Lawyers Association invite to the panel discussion Advancing Sexual Rights in the ‘Developing World’: The Politics of Human Rights Interventionism, which will take place in London, on 10 May 2012. Sonia Corrêa, SPW’s Co-chair, Sylvia Tamale, a prominent Ugandan academic lawyer teaching at Makerere University, and Jonathan Cooper, a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers and Chief Executive of the Human Dignity Trust will be the panelists.
The meeting will address questions about the ongoing debate on aid conditionality and human rights interventions, focusing on the effects for sexuality and sexual and reproductive rights, issues which were deeply highlighted by the SPW Newsletter N. 11, published in last March.
The debate will be moderated by Dimitrina Petrova, Executive Director of The Equal Rights Trust (London) and Visiting Professor at the Central European University, teaching Human Rights Politics.
