Ana Lira is a photographer and artist from Recife, Pernambuco. She has moved from civil engineering to journalism and later to photography. As in the case of other young artists from Pernambuco, one main feature of Lira’s work is that, quite often, it emerges from collective productions. Her work is usually highly political as illustrated by the series ” Voto!” (“Vote!”) that was exhibited at the 31st São Paulo Bienal in 2014, of which two photographs illustrating this post. Her choice of themes and images are definitely in tune with the current Brazilian political climate.
